The unveiling of the OFL Monument to Jack Layton will occur on the anniversary of Jack’s passing: Thursday, August 22 at 11:45am.
The statue will be unveiled at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal Entrance (9 Queen’s Quay West) at 11:45 am. The nearest parking is just east of Captain John Restaurant, Queen’s Quay at Yonge Street.
Master sculptor David Pellettier and the renowned team at MST Bronze Limited have created a life-sized bronze statue of Jack sitting on the back seat of a tandem bicycle, with room on the front seat for visitors to have their picture taken “riding with Jack.” No one will miss the significance of Jack riding in the back seat of the bicycle because Canadians know that Jack always had their back. You can be among the first to see it.
This will be an historic event with Olivia Chow, members of the Layton family and representatives of the City of Toronto present to receive this wonderful gift from the labour movement and supporters to the people of Canada.
